In 1990 “IN THE LIIMELIGHT, NINETY YEARS OF THE BROADWAY MUSIC MAN” took shape. Sheila Smith wrote the book and Dennis Buck was my music director. The first opportunity to perform the show came when I was booked in a residency at The University of Texas - Pan American, Edinburg, Texas. Opening night was my first time to perform the show for an audience and was the only time the filming crew was available to film it. So, there are some spots in the film and the sound that could be better. That being said it is such a thrill for me to have a record of this show. The video tape had been misplaced and just came to light this year. My dear friend, Phil Roccuzzo, carefully retrieved the video off of the video tape and posted it on my website and my You Tube channel. It was a two act show with intermission. The video simply segues after the “Geroge M” medley into Act 2. The video runs a little less than an hour and a half. Enjoy.
What a way to start 2017. On Saturday and Sunday, 1/28 & 1/29, Joyce and Larry Duke presented me in my one man a cappella show at Big Shots on Monkey Island. I found the smaller nightclub setting to be a good venue for connecting with the audience. We videoed the Saturday show. Enjoy.
On 2/13/16 in Fort Worth, Texas, I will be performing a one man a cappella show, “Songs From My Heart,” for a fund raiser for Arts Fifth Avenue. This is an organization that I have supported for years and now serve on the Advisory Board. In the 80’s Gracey Tune, the Founder and Artistic Director, asked me to come to Ft. Worth to celebration National Tap Dance Day. This included dancing on street corners downtown and was the beginning of an exciting relationship, leading to many guest performances over the years. All friends in the area, please come out and support Arts Fifth Avenue.
On 2/11/15 the Rotary Club of Grove, Oklahoma asked me to sing a Valentine’s Day program for them. This was my first time to sing a whole set acappella. Enjoy.
In 1995 I returned to Grove, Oklahoma, to help start the Grove Community Playmakers by playing Harold Hill in “The Music Man” on the high school auditorium stage. It started what is going on a 20 year run of an award winning community theater. Last spring I put together the above show, “Songs I Love to Sing” for a benefit. We successfully raised over $12,000 for the theater. Here is a video taken during the show one evening. It is a little over an hour long. I’m very proud of the work that Sally and I did, especially in including the audience so much. I feel like a good time was had by all. Check it out.
I hope you enjoy this video of myself and Gracey Tune at the annual National Tap Dance Day May 25, 2012 in Fort Worth, TX.
My rendition of ‘Over The Rainbow’ at the Nowata Oklahoma Libaray.
